The Parents Engage project emerged from a partnership consisting of seven organizations from the Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Italy, Cyprus and Turkey.
We work together to strengthen the capacity of teachers to foster productive relationships with migrant and refugee families, support migrant and refugee parents to engage in their children’s schools, improve education and address issues such as school dropout and disadvantaged migrant and refugee children in primary and secondary education.
Germany and the rapidly growing economic areas in South Asia (India, Indonesia, Vietnam, etc.) have a lively cooperation in vocational training. German companies are increasingly active in South Asia, while more and more South Asian specialists are working in Germany. Both sides show a high level of interest in mutual cooperation. The question is sometimes asked what Germany can learn from such cooperation. For us, the cooperation with universities and companies in India and South Asia has brought a number of valuable insights.
In the context of training programs for international vocational training specialists worldwide, the TU Dresden Institute of Further and Continuous Education (TUD FaCE) offers further courses on »Engineering Pedagogy« and »Digital Skills for Educators«. The short-term and long-term programs were developed to represent engineering education and online education in a contemporary form and include selected modules from the IGIP standard »International Engineering Educator ING.PAED.IGIP«.

Indonesia International Student Mobility Award Co-funding (IISMA Co-funding) is scholarship scheme by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. With regards to the Call of Application for the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) 2024 funded by the Government of Indonesia scholarship scheme to fund Indonesian undergraduate students on mobility program to overseas universities, TUD FaCE does serve as host for scholars from Indonesia in two tracks: undergraduate education path and vocational education path. Both paths consist each of a number of study courses for the duration of one semester to be studied onsite in Dresden in English language.
The ZuKo4Saxony project – Development of future skills in dual study companies supports dual study companies with an innovative and modular learning environment that prepares company employees and managers for the onboarding, integration and support of dual students, links the university and company learning locations and provides assistance for the learning support (empowerment) of students. In terms of content, the learning environment developed in the project focuses on the various facets of future working skills, i.e. future skills for the new world of work, personnel development and talent management 4.0 as well as operational transformation in the digital age. In addition to the learning environment, ZuKo4Saxony provides a community environment and various network partners with the opportunity for social networking and cross-institutional and cross-industry transfer.

Vocational education experts in Dresden are collaborating with partners from France, Belgium, Estonia, and Spain on the professionalization of teachers and mentors in vocational education. In the EU-funded project »Centre of Vocational Excellence« (ProVEST), 23 institutions from the fields of education and training are investigating highly effective learning environments and comparing training practices at the interface of the education sector and industry. The goal is to make vocational education fit for the future. The German ProVEST hub is coordinated by the Technical University of Dresden, with the participation of TUDFaCE and the Learning+Technology Dresden Education Center.
The Dresden team, led by Prof. Thomas Köhler, anticipates a strengthening of vocational teacher training and new impetus for European vocational pedagogy. Professional development programs and masterclasses are being developed, and long-term collaborations between schools, mentors, and companies are being fostered. A key focus is on research workshops and the presentation of results to the regional professional community.
Of particular importance is the collaboration with companies specializing in the training of international skilled workers for Saxon businesses. This allows for a joint approach to addressing skills shortages and issues in international comparative education research. Lernen + Technik gGmbH and TUD FaCE GmbH see this as an opportunity to further establish themselves as partners of excellence.
