News : With AI and interior cameras: vehicle safety becomes individual and more efficient

AI and inte­rior came­ras are revo­lu­tio­ni­zing vehicle safety! Thanks to new tech­no­lo­gies, seat belts and air­bags can be indi­vi­du­ally adjus­ted to the body cha­rac­te­ristics of each occu­p­ant. The future of vehicle safety is per­so­na­li­zed – and GWT is proud to have con­tri­bu­ted to the research.
In a spe­ci­fic deve­lo­p­ment pro­ject, the com­pany IAV Fahr­zeug­si­cher­heit GmbH & Co. KG com­mis­sio­ned the Inno­va­tion Cen­ter for Elec­tro­nic Mea­su­re­ment and Dia­gno­stic Tech­no­logy to rese­arch the use of arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence in vehicle interiors.

Deve­lo­p­ment engi­neer Patrick Lau­fer took over the rese­arch work and deve­lo­ped an algo­rithm that reco­gni­zes the body cha­rac­te­ristics of occu­pants and allows safety-rele­vant indi­vi­dua­liza­tion of res­traint systems.

Since then, he has been pre­sen­ting his important fin­dings at inter­na­tio­nal spe­cia­list conferences.
