With Prof. Richard H. W. Funk, an extraordinary as well as particularly human mastermind and expert leaves the university as president, who has shaped and enriched DIU.
Prof. Funk, who led DIU as president from 2018 to 2020 and again from October 2022, strengthened DIU’s role in continuing academic education, particularly in the fields of medicine and health care. Under his leadership, DIU has made significant progress in teaching, research and internationalization. Most recently, he accompanied the restructuring of DIU together with Managing Director Dr. Merle Emre.
DIU employees describe Prof. Funk as warm, very knowledgeable, and always in a good mood. He always meets all people at eye level. His expertise and exceptional commitment have left their mark on DIU. He will be remembered by the college and all its members as an outstanding president and a valued individual.
