News : Events, encounters, inspiration: a look back at a month full of GWT highlights

An eventful month lies behind us - with exciting events, inspiring encounters and promising impulses for research, transfer and networking. GWT looks back on the highlights of May

5th Intercultural Job Fair Dresden
GWT looks back with great pleasure on its participation in the 5th Intercultural Job Fair Dresden at the World Trade Center. The fair offered many opportunities for exchange between companies and international talents. Many guests took the opportunity to find out about career prospects, make contacts and learn about specific career opportunities.
The broad spectrum of career paths was presented at the GWT stand. The response was consistently positive – characterized by openness, curiosity and genuine interest in shared future prospects.
Many thanks to the organization team for the successful event and to all participants for the valuable discussions and impulses.
W4 – How science becomes business: Robotics
On May 15, the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS opened its doors for an exciting journey into the world of artificial intelligence and robotics as part of the event series W⁴- Wie Wissenschaft Wirtschaft wird.
The focus: adaptive robotics, which uses intelligent sensor technology and AI to bring more »fingertip sensitivity« to automated processes – a key technology for variant-rich small series and precise single-part production. In addition to scientifically sound keynote speeches, the program also offered practical insights into ongoing research projects and an exclusive lab tour with live demonstrations of adaptive robotics in use.
A big thank you goes to all participants and the Fraunhofer team for the successful event and the valuable professional input. The approaches and findings presented provide important suggestions for the future use of AI-supported automation solutions – especially in areas where conventional systems reach their limits.
28th symposium »Utilization of Renewable Resources: Biomass – Heat – Power« in Zittau
Two days full of exciting insights, intensive discussions and forward-looking ideas lie behind us: The 28th symposium »Utilization of Renewable Resources: Biomass – Heat – Power« in Zittau on 22. and 23 May brought together experts from science, practice and municipal energy planning to work together on the solutions of tomorrow.
The focus was on topics such as the thermochemical gasification of solid biomass, innovative waste recycling and new concepts for municipal heating networks. It became clear: The energetic use of biomass is not a niche topic – it is a decisive building block for a sustainable energy future.
A big thank you to all participants, speakers and contributors for the valuable exchange. We are already looking forward to seeing you again at the 29th symposium next year.
